How the law can help

The British courts have the power to stop someone from forcing someone else to marry against their will. An Act of Parliament called the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007 provides the courts with powers to make Forced Marriage Protection Orders to stop somebody from forcing another person into marriage.
